What is Qwo?

Qwo® (collagenasecollagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes) is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women ages 18 -78. Dr. Tittle is thrilled to be one of the first in the DFW area to offer this new treatment in 2021. QWO offers a permanent solution for very severe and moderately severe types of cellulite.

Over 90% of women have cellulite and the most common reason for it is the hardening of the fibrous septae (which provide structural support to our skin). They are responsible for dimpling or cottage cheese like appearance of the skin.

How does QWO ® work?

Qwo is an injectable formulation that consists of two enzymes that degrade collagen molecules. When Qwo™ is injected into the area beneath a dimple, it stimulates the initiation of Enzymatic Subcision and Remodeling (ESR™). ESR involves the enzymatic degradation of collagen-rich fibrous septae which play a key role in the pathophysiology of cellulite. By disrupting thesesubdermal fibrous structures, Qwo™causes the release of cellulite-associated skin depressions and smooths the surface of the skin. Furthermore, Qwo™stimulates the production of new collagen molecules (neocollagenesis) which further improves the appearance of the skin.

How many sessions does one need with QWO  to see results?

To help achieve desired results, patients should complete three treatment sessions scheduled 3 weeks or 21 days apart. Patients may receive up to 12 injections per buttock, for a maximum of 24 injections for both buttocks. Some dimples may require more than one injection.

Qwo Results

Patients see improvement at about 3 weeks after treatment with improvement continuing as collagen remodeling continues. Three treatments have been shown to be necessary to achieve optimal results.

What are the most common side effects of QWO?

Post treatment bruising is the primary side effect of Qwo. Pain and swelling tend to be minimum. Bruising typically lasts 1-2 weeks.

How long do the results of QWO last?

The results are permanent with combination of optimal diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR QWO

CONTRAINDICATIONS

QWO is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to collagenase or to any of the excipients or the presence of infection at the injection sites.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

Hypersensitivity Reactions

Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis have been reported with the use of collagenase clostridium histolyticum. If such a reaction occurs, further injection of QWO should be discontinued and appropriate medical therapy immediately instituted. Advise patients to seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms of serious hypersensitivity reactions.

Injection Site Bruising

In clinical trials, 84% of subjects treated with QWO experienced injection site bruising. Subjects with coagulation disorders or using anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications (except those taking ≤150 mg aspirin daily) were excluded from participating in Trials 1 and 2. QWO should be used with caution in patients with bleeding abnormalities or who are currently being treated with antiplatelet (except those taking ≤150 mg aspirin daily) or anticoagulant therapy.

Substitution of Collagenase Products

QWO must not be substituted with other injectable collagenase products.
QWO is not intended for the treatment of Peyronie’s Disease or Dupuytren’s Contracture.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

In clinical trials, the most commonly reported adverse reactions in patients treated with QWO with an incidence ≥ 10% were at the injection site: bruising, pain, nodule and pruritus.
